“You love her, don’t you?”, Mike asked Steve, with half a mischievous smile on his face.
Steve turned his head to the right, stared at Mike with an angry-but-blushing kind of look.
He spoke up, and said, “Dude, we’ve been friends for only 10 months now, how do you expect me to fall in love with her?”
Mike raised one of his eye brows, and said, “Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Steve, we’ve been best friends for 8 years now, and trust me, I’ve never seen you so happy with anyone.”
Steve looked at his laptop screen, and answered, “She’s an amazing person… And she sees me as a best friend. That’s it.”
Mike rolled his eyes, sighed, and said, “That’s it? Dude, you know every single little detail about her, you keep saying she’s flawless, there hasn’t been a single song recommended by her that you HAVEN’T loved, you keep listening to her favourite song on repeat when you miss her, you keep buying her presents, you show up at her door at 3 AM when she tells you she’s not feeling well through a text. Please, explain to me, how you’re NOT in love with her.”
Steve replied, “She sees me as a best friend. Nothing more.”
Mike, in a slightly higher tone, said, “Shut up, you moron. Go tell her how you feel. I can bet she feels the same way about you, okay? Trust me, when I say she won’t find someone like you.”
Steve said, “She’ll probably find someone way better.”
Mike remarked, “No one loves her so much just for being herself. Except you.”
Steve quickly replied, “That’s ‘cause she’s worth it.”
Mike affirmed, “That’s ‘cause you don’t love her just as a best friend. There’s something more.”
Steve asked, “Why are you doing this, Mike?”
Mike responded, saying, “Look, Steve, all I ask you to do, is go tell her how you feel. Right now. Right fucking now. Please. I beg you.”
Steve replied, “Don’t make me do this. She’ll probably hate me for this.”
Mike insisted, “Please. Do this, and I won’t ask for anything from you, ever again. Just… please, please, please!”
Steve hesitatingly answered, “Okay. I’ll do it. But I swear, if anything goes wrong, I’ll tell her it was just a dare you told me to do, okay?”
Mike, quite happily, replied, “Okay. You can say anything you want to, if it goes wrong.”
Steve let out a heavy sigh.
Steve stood just a few steps away from Syrah’s door, he planned everything perfectly, just the way Syrah always said she wanted a guy to confess his feelings to him. He wrote down all his feelings in a letter, and brought a red rose with it.
He knocked at her door, and Syrah’s Mum opens it.
Steve smiled at her, and said, “Mrs. Swift! How are you?!”
Syrah’s Mum smiled back, and answered, “Steve! Come in… I’m great, what about you?! And you’re right in time… I guess Syrah hasn’t told you… Well, there’s a surprise for you, upstairs! Syrah’s in her room!”
Steve ran upstairs, with the letter and rose in his hands. As he knocked on Syrah’s bedroom door, he realized there’s someone else with her. He could hear a guy’s voice, a quite familiar one.
When Syrah opened the door, she immediately hugged him, and exclaimed, “Steve! Oh my gosh, thank goodness you’re here! I was just about to call you!”
Steve smiled even bigger, and said, “What happened? You sound… just so cheerful!”
Syrah broke the hug, looked back, and pointed at the other person, and said, “This fucker, Ryan, knew I was in love with him, and last night, he told me he was in love with a perfect girl… And just some time back, he showed up at my door, telling me I was the girl. I’m having the best day ever!”
Steve was in shock, as far as he knew, Ryan was in a relationship with someone else, just two days back. He could feel his world crashing down, and worst part was, he couldn’t even show it. He somehow smiled, and responded, “Wow… That’s… great! I’m so happy for you… two. I hope that you guys will stay together for a long time.”
Ryan walked up to Steve, shook hands with him, and said, “Thanks a lot, man!”
Steve smiled, and said, “Just keep one thing in mind… If you ever hurt my best friend, I will hunt you down, and kill you.”
Ryan giggled, and replied, “Don’t worry… I won’t!”
Syrah held Ryan’s hand, and said, “He won’t, Steve. I know he won’t.”, and looked straight at Ryan’s eyes.
Steve looks at them, and his heart just sinks, badly. He says, in a shaky kind of voice, “I gotta go, Syrah… I have some work to finish, sorry! Take care, and have a great time!”
Syrah replied, “Okay… I’ll call you up later! Bye! And thanks!”
Steve walked as fast as he could, got into his car, and drove away. He was sobbing, as he kept going further, and further. After a few minutes, he stopped the car at an empty street, and cried his heart out. He felt like he lost her, forever. He decided to switch on the radio, as the silence made him feel even more lonely.
“Not myself” by John Mayer started playing on the radio. Steve’s heart sunk deeper, as he realized that the song was one of Syrah’s favourite ones. Memories started flashing in front of his eyes, and all he could think was how she made him listen to the song, and asked him, if he would still be by her side, if she wasn’t herself.
He went home, and locked himself in his bedroom. He spoke to absolutely no one for a week, not even Mike.
Mike kept calling, and texting, as he was out of town for a month, but Steve didn’t pick up, or reply to his texts.
For 3 weeks, Steve didn’t contact any of his friends. One night, around 8, his doorbell rang.
He opened the door, to find Syrah standing there. He was quite surprised, and he asked her, “Why are you here? At this time, in the pouring rain?”
Syrah answered, “I broke up with him.”
Steve stared at her, and then asked her to come in.
She kept silent, as he made her sit on the couch, handed her a towel, and made her a cup of coffee.
Syrah looked down, and spoke up, saying, “Steve… I’m sorry.”
Steve asked, “What? I mean… Why are you saying sorry?”
Syrah looked at him, and answered, “Well… I guess you forgot about your letter and the rose. You dropped it on the stairs, at my house, Steve. I read it.”
Steve, surprisingly replied, “Well… Umm, I can explain. Look, I was just-“
Syrah cut him off in the middle of his sentence, and said, “You don’t have to explain. I spoke to Mike, he told me… about how much you’ve been in love with me for 8 months now.”
Steve didn’t know what to say, he stared at her with a blank expression.
She added, “I know it all, Steve, and I just wanna ask you something. Just answer with “yes” or “no”, okay?”
Steve responded, “Okay…”
Syrah asked, “Suppose I said, you’re my saving grace? Would you want me when I’m not myself?”
Steve gawked at Syrah, after a few moments, he broke the silence saying, “I told you before… I would. Always.”
Syrah affirmed, “You really are my saving grace, Steve. All these days, I have no idea why, but I didn’t realize what my heart really wants. Last 3 weeks, without you, I felt so… lost. Ryan was there, but I felt like I didn’t even care if he was there or not. I went to parties, get togethers… And first person I searched for, was always you. Last night, I re-read your letter… And I realized, it’s YOU who I want. Two hours back, I met up with Ryan, and ended it all. I spent an hour and a half, wondering, how to show up at your door.”
Steve stood up, and seeing him, so did Syrah.
He went near her, took her hand, and put it into his, saying, “Now you tell me… Suppose I said, I am on my best behaviour, but there are times, I lose my worried mind. Would YOU want ME, when I’m not myself?”
Tears rolled down Syrah’s cheeks. She looked up at his face, “Do you even have to ask, you fool?”
Steve took his laptop, and played “Not myself” on it. He smiled at her, and said, “This is officially our song, you know.”
She replied, “I know.”
And they both decided to spend the rest of the night, playing the song on repeat, and cuddling with each other.
“If something is meant to be, no matter what, it’ll find it’s way in the end.”
Syah looked straight at Adam, while he looked down at his feet. He kept playing with his fingers, while Syah decided to break the long silence.
She spoke up, saying, “So, you still haven’t told them about me?”
Adam gave her a glance, and answered, “I… couldn’t. Mom just sounded so happy about me giving her friend’s daughter a chance.”
Syah’s eyes teared up, and she stood up, and said, “Adam, it’s been a whole year. Since we’ve met, since we’ve fallen in love, and since we’ve been together… And your parents don’t even know I exist, whereas my parents know each and every little thing about you and me. Why? Are you planning to end this?”, in a slightly angry tone.
Adam looked up at her face, and said, “No. Okay? No. That’s not how it is-“
Before he could finish his sentence, Syah said, “How is it, then? Do I have to watch you go on a date with another girl, and maybe even fall in love with her, all ‘cause you still couldn’t speak to your parents about me?”
Adam said, “Just hear me out, okay? I tried, but I just couldn’t! Trust me, I’d love it if you met my parents, but, Mom, and Dad, both just seemed so excited about Jenna and me going on a date! Just one date, after that, I promise, I’ll tell them.”
Syah burst out this time, saying, “One date? One date is an awful lot of time to start liking someone. And I think we both know Jenna, she’s been hitting on you every time we meet her, or come across her. And I don’t like that. Adam, just be straight forward, is this going anywhere? Are WE going anywhere? Can you… live without me?”
Adam stared at her in silence, he felt too mind boggled… He gave Syah a glance, closed his eyes, and just put his head down.
Syah wiped off her tears, and said, “So I guess, you really can live without me. Okay, then.”
She stormed out of the living room, went into the bedroom, took her bag, and walked back out into the living room.
Adam stood up, looked at her, and said, “Syah, please, don’t do this.”
Syah looked straight into his eyes, and says, “You can live on your own, Adam. Goodbye.”
Adam was about to say something, but just then, he realized he could see Syah’s heart break right in her eyes, and something stopped him.
Syah silently walked out through the door.
Tears kept falling from her eyes, as she stood in front of his apartment, waiting for a taxi. Her heart was just falling apart. She spent 10 minutes, out on the pavement. It was raining hard, the thunders gave her chills every few minutes. She decided to walk to the corner of the street, hoping there would be a taxi there. She spent around 15 more minutes on the corner, but not a single taxi passed by. She felt even worse, dropped her bag, and covered her face with both her hands.
Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked back, and realized, it was Adam, standing there. She felt highly surprised, and wiped her eyes.
Adam looked at her, and said, “Come back, please.”
Syah, with a broken voice from crying, asked him, “Why are you here?”
Adam put both his hands on her shoulder, held her tight, and said, “Look, when you asked whether I can live without you or not, I didn’t answer. You know why I’m here? No, I’m not here to tell you, that I can’t live without you. That’s because I can live without you. But, I just don’t want to.”
Syah kept staring at Adam, while her heart, for some reason, wanted to cry even harder.
Adam continued, saying, “Remember when I told you that I’d be lost without you, and never find myself? I meant it. Even if for a few minutes, you were gone, and I just felt so… lost. Because, I need you. After you left, I realized how lonely I always was, and how alone I really am, without you by my side. And no other person, no matter how perfect she is, can EVER take your place. Because, trust me, I don’t think there is any other woman on this Earth, who is even half as perfect as you are. So, please. Don’t leave me. It’s so easy to lose ourselves, but just so hard to ever find ourselves again. And I don’t think I can ever find myself, ever again, if I can’t be with you. And, yes, I’m gonna go call up my Mom right now, and tell her that I can’t go on a date with Jenna, ‘cause I’m planning to marry the most beautiful, amazing, and gorgeous woman ever, who goes by the name of Syah.”
Syah didn’t know how to react, she kept staring right at him, with a confused kind of look.
Adam moved his hands, and said, “Oh, I almost forgot.”
He took out a ring out of his pocket, and said, “This is my Grandma’s ring, you know. She gave it to me before she died, and told me, to give this to my wife.”
He got down on one knee, held up the beautiful ring, and said, “Whatever I am, whoever I am, you know it all. And yet, you choose to stay with me, love me, and take care of me. Now, it’s my turn. Let me be cheesy with you, let me spend my weekends doing the most stupid, and crazy stuff with you, let me take care of you, and most importantly, let me love you. Forever. So, Syah, be mine forever? Marry me?”
Syah smiled, and then started crying. She couldn’t speak for a few moments, finally, she wiped the water off her face, and looked at Adam, and said, “Yes.”
Adam said, “Say it again. Louder.”
She replied, “YES.”
He put the ring on her finger, stood up, and kissed her. After a while, he broke the kiss, and said, “Well, this was one of out biggest wishes, wasn’t it? Kissing, while it rains like hell.”
She gave a small laugh, and looked at him, and said, “Thank you.”
He replied, “The pleasure’s mine, babe.”
She smiled, and hugged him, like she was never gonna let go. He did the same.
After a while, they both walked back home, with his arms around her waist, and her head on his shoulder. And they both knew, the others was theirs… Forever.
Nicole ran into her classroom, with frizzy hair, and books in her hand.
Her friends looked at her, and she realized the Teacher wasn’t in the classroom yet. She let out a deep breath, ‘cause she thought she’d be late again.
She looked at her seat, and realized there was a guy sitting there… A guy she’d never seen before. She walked up to the guy, and said, “Umm… That’s my seat. Mind getting up?”
The guy looks up at her, and looks away, without answering.
She says again, “Hello? Dude… Go sit somewhere else.”
He looks up at her again, and speaks up. He says, “Why? I came first, I sat here first.”
She gets a little pissed off, and replies, “But this is MY seat.”
He replies, “Doesn’t have your name written on it, does it?”
Just when Nicole was about to start shouting, someone said, “Teacher’s coming!”
Nicole rolled her eyes, and sat down in a seat in a corner. Her eyes got all red with anger, but she somehow kept the anger in.
After classes ended, she ran to catch up with the guy who took her seat, but Alexa stopped her, and said, “You wore those clothes the day before yesterday, right?”
Nicole took a deep breath, and said, “Fuck off, bitch.”
Alexa laughed a little, and said, “Oh shut up, loser. James! Look here!”
James, being Alexa’s so called best friend comes over, and asks Alexa, “Yes, dear?”
Alexa tells him, “Look who’s wearing same clothes and old shoes again!”, and starts laughing.
Nicole gets a bit angry, and says in a heavy voice, “Move.”
James replies to her, “Awww you wanna leave… Why? Gonna go change clothes? Oh wait!”, and they all start laughing at her.
Nicole looks down, and a tear drops down Nicole’s cheeks, and suddenly, she hears someone say, “What the hell is your problem, dude?”
She looks up, and standing next to her, was that guy who was sitting in her seat earlier in classes. She stared at him, and James told the guy, “Man, you’re new here, just mind your own business.”
The guy replies, “Look, I don’t give a damn whether I’m new here or stuff, the point is, you just don’t have the right to make someone feel bad.”
Alexa replies, “You look pretty smart, why the hell are you protecting her?”
The guy replies, “Because, as I said, people like you don’t have the right to make someone feel bad.”
Nicole felt pretty speechless, on how a guy she doesn’t even know was standing up for her.
James whispers something into Alexa’s ear, and she says, “Leaving now. Bye Nicole.”, and they both leave.
Nicole looks at the guy, and says, “Th-thank… you.”
The guy smiles, and says, “Sorry for being rude earlier… I shouldn’t have sat on your seat.”
Nicole answers, “No no! Don’t say sorry! Whatever you did for me today… I can’t thank you enough for it.”
The guys asks, “You don’t have to thank me! What’s your name?”
Nicole replies, “Nicole… Nicole Chance. What’s yours?”
The guy answers, “Cody! Cody Anton Martin. Now please… put a smile on your face? Please?”
Nicole wipes off her tears, and puts a pretty smile on her face.
And Cody says, “Now… can I buy you some ice cream? They say ice cream always makes a person feel better!”
Nicole says, “Well… You really don’t have to!”
Cody replies, “I’ll take this as a thank you from you… Please?”
Nicole blushes, and says, “Okay.”
They both spend hours talking and talking, about things they like, and dislike, and they both discovered they have plenty of things in common.
Days pass, Nicole and Cody become the best of friends, every other person would be jealous of their beautiful friendship, some even said they were in love, but both kept denying it every single time.
Alexa and James had stopped bullying Nicole, ‘cause every time they tried, Cody would be there to save her.
Months passed, Cody and Nicole’s friendship became stronger, and stronger.
One bright day, Alice, a friend of Nicole’s told her that no matter how much she denies it, she knew she was in love with Cody.
Nicole was up one late night, listening to “The Scientist” by Coldplay. She suddenly thought of Cody, as it was his favourite song. She left him a text saying she misses him. She kept thinking about whatever Alice had told her a few days ago… Maybe Alice was right, maybe she really did fall for Cody. She opened a picture of her and Cody, and started smiling. She decided, she’d go to Cody’s house the next morning, and tell him whatever’s in her heart.
She woke up the next morning, took a shower, and did everything else to make her look good. She looked in the mirror, put on a smile, and thought to herself, “I should’ve done this long ago.”
She put her earphones in, got in a taxi, and kept smiling as she looked out the window, while listening to “The Scientist.”
All she could think about, was Cody, and what his reaction could be. She felt really happy, like nothing could go wrong at that moment.
When she reached Cody’s house, she saw a lot of people standing in front of the house, and loads of cars parked there. She felt a bit confused, it was about 11 AM, she never saw so many people in front of Cody’s house at such an awkward time.
She walked towards his house, as she took an earphone out of one of her ears, she could hear someone crying. She somehow reached his doorstep, and she saw Alice standing there. She asked, “Alice… What’s happening?”
Alice answered, “Y-y-you… don’t know?”
Nicole said, “Umm… know what? My phone ran out of charge last night, so it was switched off… and I came here to tell Cody how I really feel, ‘cause… you were right. It’s true, I’m in love with him.”
Alice’s eyes filled with tears, and Nicole asked, “Alice… W-w-why… are you… crying?”
Alice replied, “Go to the backyard.”
As Nicole stepped into the backyard, she realized the crying got louder and clearer. She looked in front, a lot of people were gathering around something, and Cody’s Mom was sitting in a chair, crying her heart out.
She went to his Mom, and asked, “Mrs. Martin… W-what’s wrong? Where’s Cody?”
Mrs. Martin pointed to the crowd of people, and they all stepped aside.
Nicole looked at what the gathering was around, and her body froze.
She saw Cody’s body, lying there. She walked towards the body, and stared in astonishment… She couldn’t believe what her eyes were seeing.
She turned to her side, and Cody’s Dad was standing next to her with eyes red from crying. Nicole’s body started shaking badly, and she somehow asked Mr. Martin, “H-h-h-h-how?? W-w-when???”
He answered, “Accident. Last night… his car has a collision with a truck which had a drunk driver. Both of them died at the spot.”
Nicole broke down, she just sat on the floor, and started weeping. Suddenly, she spoke up, saying, “No… just no. He can’t be gone. He… just can’t be gone! Not like this!”, and started crying even badly. She felt like someone tore a part of her heart away.
Mrs. Martin came to her, and said, “It’s time… to bury him.”
Nicole sat there, and kept crying, and she said, “No… Please. No. This isn’t over. It can’t be over. I can’t lose him, not like this.”
Mrs. Martin told her, “Just yesterday, Cody was telling me how he was going to propose to you… and how you were perfect for her.”, and Mrs. Martin started crying out loud again.
Nicole stared at his body, and said, “Cody… please… tell me you love me, come back, and haunt me… oh and I rush to the start…”
The people lifted the coffin, and started walking away. Nicole looked at the coffin, and said, “No… Please. He can’t leave me like this. I-I-I couldn’t tell him I love him with all my heart… I… just couldn’t tell him I love him.”
Chloe sat there in the cafe, checking her cellphone again and again. She was running outta time, and Liam still hadn’t shown up.
She thought to herself, “Even after 2 years, he still can’t come on time, can he?”
Her eyes catch the cute couple sitting on the table right opposite to hers. Her mind goes back to the time when she and Liam used to be that kinda cute couple who caught everyone’s eyes.
A few moments later, a guy walks in through the door of the cafe. He looks at Chloe, waves his hand, and says, “Hey! Sorry I’m late, had a little work to do!”
Chloe answers, “It’s okay.”, with a polite smile on her face.
Liam sits down, and asks her, “Sooo, ordered anything yet?”
Chloe replies, “No… was waiting for you.”
Liam says, “Alright then, I’ll order something. Cappuccino sounds good?”
Chloe answers, “Yeah sure.”
The waitress comes over, and Liam starts ordering.
Liam finished ordering, and asked Chloe, “So, how’s life?”
Chloe answers, “Pretty good. Moved into a new apartment last month. What about you?”
Liam replies, “My life… is pretty… awesome, I guess.”, as he runs his fingers through his hair.
Chloe suddenly notices the ring on Liam’s ring finger on his left hand, and asks, “You… engaged?”
Liam gets a bit shocked, he thought she knew. He answers, “Ummm… no.”
There’s a sudden kinda calmness in Chloe’s mind, she replied, “Oh.”
Liam hesitatingly says, “I… got married. Been 7 months.”
Chloe’s heart skips a beat, and she goes speechless for some time. She somehow speaks up, and replies, “That’s… good news. Who’s the lucky girl?”
Liam answered, “Her name’s Alexis. Met her last year at a friend’s Birthday party.”
Chloe puts a polite fake smile on her face. She felt like breaking down at the moment, ‘cause, even after 2 years of breaking up, a part of her heart still loved him.
The waitress serves two cups of Cappuccinos. Liam starts sipping his Cappuccino, and after a few seconds, so does Chloe.
They talk a little bit more, about work, and the weather.
About 10 minutes later, Liam’s phone rings. He says “Excuse me” to Chloe, walks 3-4 steps away.
He finishes the call, comes back to Chloe, and says, “I kinda have to leave… Alexis called, there’s an emergency.”
Chloe replies, “Oh, okay. Take care. We’ll keep in touch.”
Liam says, “I’m really sorry for leaving like this,”
Chloe says, “It’s okay! Now go.”
Liam replies, “It was nice meeting you after all this time. Goodbye.”, and smiles.
Chloe puts a smile on her face, and says, “Same here. Bye.”
Liam pays the bill, and leaves.
After a few minutes, Chloe gets out of the cafe, and calls a cab.
“45 Oxford street.”, she tells the cab driver, and gets into the cab.
She reaches home, gets into the apartment, and slams the door close.
Chloe goes into her room, and breaks down. She sits on the floor, and starts crying.
She kept telling herself, “He’s not mine anymore. I let him go 2 years go.”
She takes out her laptop, hoping music will make her feel better.
First song that catches her eyes on her playlist, is “Someone like you” by Adele.
She plays it on repeat, although she knows how much it will hurt her.
She cries out even heavily, saying, “No. He can’t be someone else’s. Just… no.”
She cries her heart out, and the feeling of knowing that he’ll never be hers again… just kills her.
She keeps wiping off her tears, trying to make herself believe it wasn’t her fault for letting him go. She thinks to herself, “Never mind, I’ll find someone like him, someday, I will.”
‘Cause what’s gone, is gone. He can’t come back now. Neither can she go back in time, and change it.
“Aaliyah sat there, in front of the PC. Just another usual boring afternoon, no one to chat with, and scrolling through her Facebook homepage.
A post came to the homepage, a friend of hers shared a link. A song. “From where you are” by Lifehouse.
She has always loved Lifehouse, it’s an amazing band. Their songs are beautiful, too. So she gave this song a try. She clicked on the link, the song started playing.
At first she didn’t pay much attention to the lyrics, but she did like the song. So I played the song again, and listened to the lyrics carefully.
And before she knew it, she was listening to the song on repeat, while singing along in her head.
Suddenly, Aaliyah realized, there was only one person on her mind. All she could think about, was him. She thought about all those times, when she stared at him and looked away the moment he looked at her. All those times she caught him looking at her. And then, one day, she just moved out. And never saw his face since that day.
The lyrics seemed so perfect.
“So far away from where you are,
these miles have torn us worlds apart.
And I miss you, yeah, I miss you.”
There was a smile on her face, ‘cause of all those “Heart skips a beat” kind of moments. But tears in her eyes, ‘cause those moments are now only memories.
She sang along to the lines, “Just know that wherever you are, I miss you, and I wish you were here.”
She thought to herself, “It’s not in my hands anymore. All I can do, is hope, that our fate brings us together. If not in this life, but maybe in another life…”
She wiped off her tears, and smiled instead. She tried not to be sad ‘cause it’s over, but be happy, ‘cause it happened.”
This is for someone special. I never knew his name, but he did mean a lot to me. I miss him. And I just wanna say, don’t ever give up hope. If it’s meant to be, then it will happen, one way or the other.
Don’t cry ‘cause it’s over, smile ‘cause it happened.
:)
“John stared at Taylor, as he was seeing her for the first time. Taylor went around the room, picking up magazines and putting them into the shelf on the wall. She suddenly noticed John staring at her.
She laughed a bit, and asked, “What?”
John replied, “Nothing.”
Taylor asked again, “Then why the heck are you staring at me like that?”
John said, “Just… like that.”
Taylor rolled her eyes, and said, “You and your craziness. Gosh.”
John laughed, folded his arms, and went back to staring at Taylor as she continued cleaning up the room.
After a few minutes, John asked, “So, what are our plans for this afternoon?”
Taylor answered, “I’m gonna spend the afternoon sleeping. Don’t know about you!”
John replied, “Why? Why would you wanna waste such an amazing afternoon?”
Taylor said, “Sleeping is not wasting. Sleeping is fun!”, and smiled.
John replied, “I don’t care. You are not gonna sleep. That’s it.”
Taylor raised her eyebrows, and said, “Yeah right. You think you can stop me?”
John answered, “Why yes, yes I can.”
Taylor said, “Alright. We’ll see!”
Taylor checks the time, around 3:30 PM. She starts reading a book, while lying down on her bed, hoping she’ll fall asleep within some time.
Suddenly, music starts playing a bit loudly. She puts the book down, and realizes that the song is “Your body is a wonderland”. She gets up from the bed, and walks around, trying to figure out where John is. She notices a magazine on the table, picks it up and puts it back in the shelf. Suddenly, she could feel John’s hands on her waist. she turns around, tries to push him off, and says, “Okay, so, what is going on?”, with a blush kinda smile on her face.
John replied, “Toldya, you’re not gonna spend the afternoon sleeping.”
Taylor laughs a bit, and smilingly says, “You’re serious?”
John answers, “Yes. I finally got some free time to spend with you.”
Taylor says, “Enough of being all mushy!”, while taking John’s hands and removing them from her waist. She starts to walk to the bed, and just then, John takes her hand, and pulls her back into his arms.
Taylor looks into John’s eyes, with a surprised look, but a smile on her face. John picks her up in his arms, and Taylor asks, “What are you doing?!”
John replies, “Ssshhh.”
He puts Taylor down on the bed, and sings along, “Something ‘bout the way the hair falls in your face…”, while playing with Taylor’s hair.
Taylor blushes. John kisses her forehead, and nibbles his nose against hers. She kept on smiling, and pushed John away.
John still had his hands on Taylor’s waist, as he sat up, he pulled Taylor up, too.
The next moment, they were sitting on the bed, facing each other, and staring into the others’ eyes. Taylor put one hand of hers on John’s shoulder, while playing with his hair with the other hand. John pushes Taylor back, and as she lies down back on the bed, he put his hand behind her head, and sings along, “I’ll never let your head hit the bed, without my hand behind it!”. Taylor blushes again, and John winks at her. Taylor rolls to the other side of the bed, while smiling uncontrollably.
John moves over Taylor, moves all the hair from her shoulders, and nibbles his nose against her neck.
Taylor turns around, as John moves up to her face, and kisses her lips, leaving her speechless. He breaks the kiss, and stares into her eyes.
Suddenly Taylor sings along, saying, “I know you’re mine, all mine, all mine. But you look so good, it hurts, sometimes.”
John smiles, and stares at Taylor, like he’s seeing her for the first time.
Taylor moves over, closer to John, and puts her head on his chest. John puts one of his arms around her waist, and says, “Let’s see. The one who falls asleep first, loses.”
Taylor says, “Okay, then. Anyways, it’s almost 5 PM now. I’m not sleeping now!”
A few minutes after that, Taylor falls asleep. John smiles a bit, and looks down at her face, and thinks to himself, “She looks drop dead gorgeous when she sleeps, doesn’t she? I’m one hell of a lucky guy.”
And after a few moments, John falls asleep, too. He felt tired of all the sweet mischief, but it was all worth it.
They spent almost 2 hours sleeping in each others arms, and when they woke up, they realized how perfect it all is, and both of them didn’t say it, but they both wished the moment never ended.”
Not much good, I know. My first try at something a bit too happy. :P
“It was just another late night for Summer.
She looked at the time, almost 3 AM. She felt kinda sleepy, but didn’t feel like going to sleep at all, for some reason. She stared at the monitor, while scrolling down her Tumblr homepage, and checking her Facebook tab every few minutes to see if anyone pinged her on chat or not.
Suddenly, she noticed the tab said, “Elizabeth messaged you.”
She quickly switched to the Facebook chat, Elizabeth wrote, “Summer! What are you doing?”
Summer replied, “Nothing much. Sitting here and reblogging stuff on Tumblr. What about you?”
Elizabeth answered, “Well… I was just chatting with Josh.”
Summer’s heart skipped a beat. She saw Josh’s name after months. She remembered removing him from her friend list right after they broke up, to get over him, but it was of no help.
She somehow typed in, “What… what did he say?”
Elizabeth replied after a few seconds, saying, “He told me… that he’s gonna get engaged to Kate in a few weeks, and also…”
Summer asked, “Also?”
Elizabeth replied, “Also that… he’s totally over you. And I don’t think you wanna know what he said next, so let it go.”
Summer couldn’t stop herself, she asked, “El, Tell me. What did he say? Please.”
Elizabeth answered, “And that…”
Summer said, “That?”
Elizabeth replied, “That he doesn’t give a shit about you anymore.”
Summer stared blankly at the screen, she couldn’t seem to believe what she just read. Tears rolled down her cheeks.
Elizabeth asked, “Summer? You there? I knew I shouldn’t have told you what he said. I’m sorry sweetie. You okay?”
Summer replied, “It’s okay, El. It’s absolutely okay. I’m fine. It’s been months, I don’t expect him to care about me anymore, anyways.”
Elizabeth said, “Okay, as you say so. If you need to talk, leave me a message. I’m leaving now, I need to get some rest, my head is aching real bad.”
Summer answered, “Okay. I will. Thanks. And go get some rest, and take care. G’night.”
Elizabeth replied, “Good night.”, and went offline.
Little did she know, Summer’s world fell apart. The only chances of ever getting Josh back was all gone. Summer still couldn’t believe what she just read. She kept on reading it again, and again, trying to make herself believe he never said any such thing. But it was true, reality is harsh.
She realized, people are right when they say that one of the things that hurts the most is seeing the one you love, love someone else.
She kept staring at the screen, and tears kept falling from her eyes. She tried to wipe off her tears and act like it didn’t matter to her, but inside, she knew it did. She knew, that no matter how hard she tried, she just can’t “not care” about this. She was broken, into a million little pieces.
She was listening to “So what” by Pink, and suddenly she changed the song to “The Scientist” by Coldplay. Didn’t do her any good, but she knew that she needed to cry. ‘Cause she’d been holding her feeling inside for too long.
She cried her heart out. There came a moment when she just couldn’t stop crying, even if she wanted to.
After some minutes, her eyes went dry. Tears weren’t falling from her eyes anymore. She realized she needed to sleep, her eyes were all heavy. She read the chat once more, and she could feel her heart breaking down. She logged off, and switched off her PC.
She lay down on the bed, with her eyes wide open. She thought of the time when Josh used to tell her how much he cared about her. She started crying again. All she could think was how fast time changes things. How she fell in love with him, and how he confessed his love for her, and how they broke up ‘cause of Kate. And now he’s gonna get engaged to Kate. Those thoughts were killing her, and she kept on crying.
She realized, she has no other option other than to move on, ‘cause holding on to someone who has already let go, isn’t going to do any good. But all she could think was, “How do you think of the guy you love, and tell yourself it’s time to forget him?”
She couldn’t take it anymore, she finally slept, after hours of crying.
That was the first time she realized, how much just a few simple words can hurt.
Words haunt. Badly.”
“Tad sat silently is his room. The lights switched off, music playing from his PC. He was home alone. All other guys usually party and stuff, he’d do it, too, but he just didn’t feel like it. Something was troubling him. It was heavily raining outside. He lay down on his bed, as the sound of the rain filled up his room. “Script Screen Sadness” by John Mayer started playing. He put it on repeat. Reminded him of Alison. He wanted her back. But it’s not easy. The fights are just too much for him to take. But he can’t help but think of her. He silently lies there, hoping one day, he might get her back.
While at the same time, Alison sits on her couch, in the living room. She just finished her meal, and was watching TV with her little sister. It finally started to rain, after the sky being cloudy the whole day. Alison always likes to listen to music whenever it rains, just puts her in the mood. She says goodnight to everyone, and goes up to her room. She plays the music, puts the playlist on shuffle. First song was “Set fire to the rain” by Adele. She smiled as soon as the song started playing. The next song came, and it was “Script Screen Sadness” by John Mayer. She went blank for a moment, Tad came to her mind. She remember how he said he loves the song, but it would never be perfect for him, ‘cause he had her. She started thinking how time can change within a blink. How she and Tad went from being the perfect couple, to the couple who had so many complications, that separating was the only way left. She put the song on repeat, opened the window to her bedroom, and stared out. The heavy rain pouring like there’s no tomorrow, made her wonder what Tad was doing at the moment. Just then, the lines, “All you need is love is a lie, ‘cause we had love, but we still said goodbye” came up. Alison switched the lights off, and sat in front of the window, crying.
Tad was still listening to the song on repeat, and kept thinking about how he cut her off, changed his number, removed her from his Facebook friend list. But he was dying to hear her voice, and the song somehow killed him even more, just for her voice, one more time. He decided to call her up. He still had her number memorized. He somehow gathered courage, and dialed her number. It was ringing. It rang for a long time, and she finally picked up.
He heard her say, “Hello?”. He didn’t reply. There was this warm feeling inside him, he finally heard her voice after months. The lines, “I called, because, I just need to feel you on the line. Please don’t hang up this time.” played. Tad couldn’t stop himself. He started weeping. She said, “Hello??? Anyone there? Who’s this?”. He hung up, and blocked her number, so that she couldn’t call back.
Something told Alison, that it was Tad. But she thought, why would he call her up out of nowhere? Tears ran down her face, she sat and cried for hours.
And Tad lay on his bed, crying his heart out, just for her.
Neither of them knew how much the other one was missing the other. But they both knew that the separation was better than fighting, and being hurt all the time.
But they shared a sadness. Split screen sadness.”
